Erin McElhone (she/they), originally from Dallas, is a 2018 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She received her BFA from Adelphi University in May 2022 with a minor in business. Erin is an arts administrator, performer and dance maker.
Over the past five years, Erin has taken on many different roles at non-profit organizations in the United States. Currently, Erin balances a full-time job as the Gibney Company Manager, one-on-one mentoring sessions for emerging artists, production and project management for performing artists, and their work as an avid audience member :)
As a student, Erin performed repertory works by notable choreographers including Martha Graham, Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, Takehiro Ueyama, Peter Chu, Charles Anderson, and Phil Orsano. Erin collaborated on the creation of new works with Larry Keigwin, Rasta Thomas, Manuel Vignoulle, and Sarah Matzke. She was a part of various faculty and student dances, productions, and films while at Adelphi University.
Erin is also a founding member and collaborator of Meat Market Productions, a Dallas-based dance theater company that was started at Adelphi University by Marlee Fleisher. In May 2024, Erin performed an evening-length conglomeration of 8 solos created (over the course of 2018-2024) in collaboration with Marlee titled "Yak Milk".
Erin's choreography has been presented in New York at the 2020 NYU Choreographic Seminar, Adelphi University Student Showcase, Arts on Site, Dixon Place, and the Balance Arts Center. Erin's work was also included in the Intern Showcase at Jacob's Pillow in 2022. In 2021, at Adelphi's Scholarship & Creative Works Conference, Erin received the highest honor award for their solo work: “not sexy", that same year Erin was awarded a research grant by the Adelphi Honors College to begin their undergraduate senior thesis. Their thesis, "Der Lauf der Dinge," was presented at Adelphi's 2022 Scholarship & Creative Works Conferences and once again they were awarded the highest honor.
More than anything Erin wants to make dance happen.
